CBFEM authors

This method represents a transformative approach to connection design, introduced by a team of renowned experts in structural engineering. Their contributions have redefined connection analysis by making it both highly accurate and remarkably practical.

Abstract Background

Merlion project

CBFEM emerged from a collaborative R&D initiative between Czech Technical University in Prague, Brno University of Technology, and IDEA StatiCa. The goal was to develop a universal method for designing connections of all types, moving beyond the limitations of specific templates. After years of research, the first CBFEM-powered calculation software was launched in 2014. Since then, the focus has shifted to extensive validation and verification of CBFEM results against international building codes, ensuring its reliability and global applicability.
